Resale Diaries

My friend Sophia was writing an article on this new site called Tradesy (think of it like a chic, female-centric fashion-only Ebay). She needed to sell something to test the “experience,” so I offered my old but pretty-brand-new-because-I-bought-them-too-small Chloe loafers. I love these things so much, but my feet told a different story (twas a horror story that involved blisters).

You can clearly see how I ended up with these even though they weren’t my size. Le sigh.

So, I put these cherry red dynamos on Tradesy thinking nothing would happen; but bing, bang, boom, they sold in 5 days for the asking price. I must say, this website is pretty impressive; it was super easy, uploaded everything from my phone, and the layout is pretty clean and uncluttered.

But wait, THE BEST BIT is that when your item sells, they send you all the shipping items at no extra cost! High-five Tradesy, because one of the biggest drags with selling anything is the post-sale frantic dig through your own (or someone else’s) recycling bin for an appropriate box, realizing you don’t own packing tape and that your printer is out of ink, so you end up spending $30 at Staples just to print a shipping label. I hope Susan in Brooklyn not only loves them, but also gets to leave the house in them.

A sampling of some of the packing stuff…sure beats using last weeks newspaper, which is what I usually do.
